The Boys Of Fall

"What?!" Josh growled.

"Dude we used to hook up. But I got bored of it all..I was a dick then." Mark said.

Mark was quite surprised when his cousin's fist his jaw, "What the fuck!" He snapped as he rubbed his jaw.

"You know I've always had a thing for her!" Josh snapped.

"Yeah. Well this was sophomore year, first of all. Second of all, like I said I was an ASSHOLE back then."

"You called her a whore five seconds ago so I would say you're still an asshole." Josh snapped.

"Don't get pissy just because you're about the only guy she hasn't fucked." Mark snapped back.

"I already fucking told you not to talk about her like that!"

"WHY? Because you can't take the fact that she only wants you when she's drunk but she'll just GIVE it to anyone else?"

Josh wanted to hit him again but didn't. Instead he yelled, "I am fucking done here. Go fuck yourself!" And got in his car.

Mark watched Josh drive off. He was pissed but he was also sad about this.

He went straight home and grabbed his guitar. He didn't notice Roxanne on the corner when he rushed in his house. His mom let her in and told her Josh was upstairs. She paused at his partially open door when she heard his guitar.

Mark walked to his truck and drove to a local cafe.

"Wow." She muttered.q

He sat outside for a while, just thinking. He didn't even order.

Roxanne slowly creeped away from the door and walked downstairs. She wasn't ready for that. That was too serious. She'd get hurt.

"Mark?" Morgan said softly as she walked up. He looked at her and smiled.

She winced as the staircase creaked.

"Hey Morgan..."

"Roxanne?" Josh asked as he stepped out of his room and saw her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I was just leaving." She said quickly.

Morgan motioned toward the empty seat and he nodded.

"You look like you have a lot on your mind." She said softly.

"Yes..." He replied. A waiter walked over and Morgan ordered for both of them.

"Well, let's talk about it." She said softly. The only thing she remembered while drunk was him singing her a lullaby.

"Okay. I just lost my best friend over your stupid, whore best friend. I can't get YOU off my mind and you refuse to have anything to do with me." Mark snapped. He registered the slight hurt that showed on her face.

"Roxy isn't a whore. She's an amazing friend. As for you and I, you're all I can think about lately. But I refuse to get screwed over." She said with a sad smile.

"Nah, come on in." He said softly.

"Why does everyone think I am an asshole. I'm not going to hurt you, Morgan." Mark said softly.

She wanted to keep walking down the stairs, but at this point she knew that'd make things worse. So, she nodded and sat on his bed. There was a long silence.

"I don't mean to be rude, Rox but is there a reason you're here?" He finally asked.

"Yeah uh I just wanted to apologize for last night I was um embarrassed." She fumbled over her words, "I just..I know what everyone thinks of me..what you probably think of me..but since my parents died I am just a little lost..."

She looked at him, obviously not convinced, "Well, look at what you did to Rox..."

Mark rolled his eyes, "How can everyone remember all that but not what I've become? I haven't just slept around for a year. I haven't had SEX for a year. I'm being honest. Let me tell you something. I know what I did to her was wrong! I was 16 and she was fucking sexy. But I grew up after that."

"Why?" Morgan muttered. The waiter brought the food and she smiled as she picked up a chicken strip.

"I got a girl pregnant." Mark whispered it. He didn't know anyone at the cafe but that meant nothing. Morgan's jaw dropped and he continued, "She got an abortion. I wanted to keep it. So yeah...I grew the fuck up. She got rid of my baby because I didn't want to be with her. She's transfered away by now. But it still hurts me EVERYDAY. I grew up. Why can't people just-" He cut off when Morgan reached over and took his hand.

"Well, boyfriend, why don't you just eat?" She asked innocently.

Josh looked at her, "You fucked Mark."

"Boyfriend?" He raised an eyebrow.

"It was two years ago." Roxanne sighed, "I really liked him. I know that sounds dumb. Anyway, he hurt me pretty bad..and well I've made a lot of mistake since then and no one can see past them."

"He's my cousin." Josh muttered.

"Look I get it, okay? You don't need to say it. I'm damaged goods now? Okay I am just going to go." Roxanne stood to leave.

Morgan winked, "Mark and Morgan. Has a good ring to it, right?"

"NO!" Josh exclaimed and grabbed her arm, careful not to hurt her.

"It sure does." Mark smiled.

She looked at him. "That's not what I meant, I'm sorry! I'm just so pissed at him and ugh come here.." Josh pulled her gently to him and kissed her softly.

"Have you really not had sex for a year?" Morgan asked suddenly. Mark nodded miserably.

She kissed him back and twined her fingers into his hair.

She couldn't help but laugh. She put her hand over her mouth and looked adorable.

"Did you hear me playing?" He whispered against her lips. She bite her lip and nodded.

Mark smirked, "Well, girlfriend, let's go do something after we eat." She grinned and nodded.

After they paid, he stood to leave. She grabbed his wrist, "Wait!" She pulled him to herself and kissed him sweetly.

"And?" He smiled slightly.

He kissed her sweetly. Controlling his hunger for her.

"Please don't break my heart." She whispered.

He wasn't going to lie though. Mark was one super horny, football playing teenager.

Morgan pulled away, her cheeks were flushed. They shared a looked, he said, "Let's go to my house.. Don't worry, no funny business. I just want to kiss you. A lot."

"I would never." He said softly.

"I'd like that." She smiled.

Roxanne kissed him again and they moved closer to the bed.
