It's Never Once *SOA sequel*

Delilah laughed as she lead him to the bedroom, "I was talking about a real nap but feel free to try and change my mind."

He grinned, "I think I'll just deal with a nap. I want to hold my gorgeous lady."

"Thanks for omitting the 'old'." Delilah teased and they laid down.

Jax grinned, "Hush. You're going to ruin my nap because I'll be too busy fucking your brains out."

Delilah laughed and quickly fell asleep in his arms.

A few hours later, Opie and Jax were bullshitting at the shop. They got a phone call from a hysterical Natalie, followed up by one from an upset Gemma. Clay had been shot.

"Tell me exactly what happened..." Jax said slowly

It was explained that a rival gang had shot Clay. He'd been in the park with Natalie and Sadie. He had literally just handed Sadie to Natalie when he got hit. Clay was going to make it but barely.

Both men were very pissed.

"They could have killed my daughter!" Opie raged.

Jax tried to calm his friend down, "We're going to get them...first, we have to attend to Clay."

"Juice. Go get Delilah and Connor, I want them here, not home alone." Jax said, "Come
On Opie. We need to get to the hospital."

They got to the hospital and were sent to a waiting room. Clay was in surgery. The first thing Opie did was comfort his fiance.

Delilah sat bored at the club house. She was pissed that Jax didn't have her come to the hospital. Instead she was stuck with Juice and Tig.

"It's going to be fine." He said softly.

Soon enough, the doctor came out. He informed them that Clay was fine. They were free to go in.

She looked at them, watching for the perfect time to slip out.

Tig glared at her, "I don't feel like Jax beating the shit out of me later. So please stay put. He'll be here soon."

Clay looked at his stepson and son-in-law, "I want to step down as president." He said softly.

They stared at him in surprise.

"I am too old for this." He continued, "I will endorse you, Jax."

Opie couldn't help but say something, "Are you serious?"

Clay nodded, "I want to live to take care of my grandkids...Jax, we'll announce this whenever I get out of here."

He nodded, "We will set up a vote once you're well enough."

"But I want you to act as president until we can get the vote done. Effective immediately." Clay said softly. He told them all to leave.

Jax finally walked into the club house to get Delilah and Connor.

"About damn time." She muttered, "Clay okay?"

"Yeah he'll be fine."

"I'm president, baby." He said softly as they got into the car.

Opie held Sadie tightly as he rocked her in her nursery.

"What?" Delilah turned her head.

"Well, acting president for now. Clay is stepping down and I'm sure I'll wins the vote." Jax explained.

Natalie walked in and sighed, "She's okay, Op."

She smiled slightly, "So your dream is really going to come true, isn't it?"

Opie shook his head. He wipe a single tear away, "I wasn't there to protect you."

Jax nodded, "It's happening. Once I'm president and Opie is VP, we can slow change the club. I promise everything will be safer soon."

She put a hand on his shoulder, "Baby...You can't always be with me. This isn't your fault."

She grinned, "I love you, Jackson."

Opie shrugged her hand away, "You need a bodyguard. If I'm to be VP, you'll have someone with you all the time."

"I love you too." He smiled. "I meant what I said to Gemma. I want to marry you Delilah."

"Oh." She said sweetly.

"Opie, Jax never had anyone with Delilah and Connor." Natalie reasoned.
