Engine 59 <3

Geoff smiled slightly, "It's been a good run, my brothers. I'm probably going to be gone in two weeks though. If my tansfer is not approved then I will quit the whole profession."

Milo walked away without saying another word. He was pissed. He was mad at Hannah, mad at Geoff, mad at the whole damned world.

Geoff watched sadly as his best friend walked away. He knew then that he should have told Milo alone. He turned towards the guys and sighed, "Jo and I broke up."

Hannah was outside having a cigarette.

"Those things are going to kill you one day." He snapped, "Oh and you're a fucking bitch."

"What?!"

She glared at him, "Do you know how often you give me the urge to punch you right in that loud mouth of yours?"

Geoff nodded, "She called off this weekend." All of the guys knew what the weekend had meant.

"I can't believe you just left me in there to deal with that!" He snapped.

"I can't believe you kissed me at the firehouse!" Hannah nearly shouted.

"Dude it's not like she knew..."

Geoff knew they thought he was being stupid to let a girl like Jo get away. But if they weren't in his shoes, how could they understand? He came second to her job no matter what it seemed. It failed to dawn on him that she loved her job like he loved his. They shared the same passion: saving lives.

"Ugh." Everyone groaned as the alarm sounded.

"I'm trying my hardest to make you realize that I love you!" Milo shouted. After saying it, he clapped his hand over his mouth.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. We have a job to do." Hannah said and they all ran to get ready.

They quickly arrived. It was a house fire and it was thought that the father had run back in after one of the family members.

Hannah looked around and realized she had lost her way in the building.

Geoff and his partner had located the family member the father had gone in after. Geoff cared for him as they waited on the EMTs. For some reason, the ambulance hadn't arrived yet.

She felt herself start to panic and forced herself to breath deeply and try to calm down.

"Milo..." She said softly into her walkie talkie.

"What do you want?" Milo said in reply.

"I'm lost." She had to say it twice.

Milo hear the fear in her voice, "What do you see?"

"I think I'm on the third floor. I see five windows to the north.." She was scared.

Milo was on the first floor. He immediately started locating the stairs. He didn't care about anything except finding her.

"My air is getting low." She whispered.

"I'm coming." He replied. He was going as fast as possible.

Suddenly he burst into the room.

Milo somehow spotted her through the smoke. He crossed to her quicker than he'd ever done before in his life.

He immediately after her breath from his tank. He saw why she had gotten so confused, her air had been dangerously low. He lifted her up and started to find a way down for them.

It took a little longer than planned but he finally made it out of the house.

Hannah was coughing non stop when he sat on her on the sidewalk. He knelt down.

"Shh Han...slow deep breaths..you're okay." Milo whispered and she began to have control of her body again.

Geoff walked over. He looked worried, "Take her to see Jo. Now."

Milo immediately went to pick her up.

"I can walk." Hannah sighed but he didn't listen. He carried her to Jo.

"Her air was low. I'm not sure how long." Milo explained, "She inhaled a lot of smoke before I got there but I saw no burns."

Jo glanced over at Geoff. She'd came to the fire on her own accord but the EMTs gladly had accepted her help.

"Let me listen." She muttered as she took a stethoscope and listened to her sisters lungs, "I'm guessing you kept the mask on. Minimal inhalation. You'll be fine. Get rest."
