Matthew did as he was asked and called for Amelie as well.

"I have to go." Amelie sighed.

"You're always leaving me..." Daniel whined.

"I may be in love with a lord but I am still a duke's servant." Amelie replied sadly as she walked away.

"Yes, Matthew?" Ameilie approached him.

Matthew sighed as she reached him, "She hates me...I want you to make her like me."

"I can't force her, Matt." She said softly, gently touching his arm.

"You can try." He said with a forced smile.

Amelie smiled, "Alright." She entered the room "Hello I am Amelie."

Adalynn gave her a calculating look and frowned, "You can go away. I don't need anything." Amelie looked at her, slightly shocked.

"I'm to be your companion." She replied softly. Adalynn shrugged.

"Fine. Sit down somewhere."

Amelie sat and rolled her eyes, "Matthew is a good man."

Adalynn scoffed, "Yeah, and that is why I have to marry him tomorrow...because he and my uncle are great. Sure. Do you know when I will be able to bathe?"

"You are acting like a spoiled brat, Ms. Adalynn. You're lucky to have a man like Matthew. He loves you without even knowing you. I will go see about your bath." Amelie snapped. She left before Adalynn could respond.

Amelie ran into Daniel in the hallway, "Shouldnt you be with your wife?"

He looked at her and shrugged, "She sent me to ask Adalynn to join us for dinner on Monday."

Adalynn could see slightly through the crack of the almost closed door. She saw Amelie and Daniel share a sweet kiss. Daniel held Amelie for a moment and sighed, "We should just run away together."

"Oh my God." Adalynn muttered. She grinned. She now had something over her brother-in-law.

"You know we can't do that...Matthew's family would be furious for humiliating them. Plus, we'd have no money and no place to go." She sighed into his chest, holding him close. "I love you, Daniel..."

"I love you too." He smiled softly and kissed her forehead, "I'll let you get back to work."

Amelie walked into Adalynn's room casually and shut the door.

(I forgot what she went to get for Adalynn but whatever it is she brought it to her lol)

(I think it was stuff for a bath. lol.)

Adalynn looked at Amelie, "I don't need help bathing. But, I was wondering if you could send for my- Matthew's brother-in-law."

"Daniel? Umm alright." Amelie thought the request was strange but went to get him. Adalynn heard Amelie whispered to Daniel outside the door, "I don't know what she wants!" There was a pause, "Just go in and speak to her!" Another paused, "I love you too but don't say anything about us." Another one, "No! I don't think you're stupid just go."

"This is Daniel." Amelie introduced him as they stepped in then left.

"What can I do for you?" Daniel asked.

"I know about your fling with the maid...Persuade him not to marry me and I will forget what I saw." She said sweetly as she looked at him. His eyes widened.

"I can't change his mind." He said softly with his head bowed.

"Do it or you'll wish you had." She said harshly, although she felt as if she was doing wrongly by saying this. She knew in that moment she wouldn't tell Matthew.

"Amelie and I are in love. Don't punish us because you're not." Daniel snapped, "Besides Matthew is a good man you could be very happy with him."
