Second Chances and Open Skies

A huge smile came across her face, "Okay!"

The Next Day:

9:30 rolled around.

"It's nice waking up with you." He yawned.

Chris kissed him. "It's lovely."

He smiled, "Let me go brush my teeth."

While Luke did that Chris grabbed her blackberry. She skimmed through the social websites etc sometimes she missed New York.

She sighed. She loved Luke but she missed her life.

Ben carried in a tray for Jade. It held blueberry pancakes, fried eggs, chocolate milk and oJ.

She felt a bit sick to her stomach. Could she really stay here forever?

"You're the best!" Jade smiled.

She really didn't know yet.

He smiled, "Where's your laptop? I wanna check my email and stuff."

"Everything okay?" Luke had been standing there for a moment and saw the worried look on her face.

"I'm fine." She smiled slightly.

"Over there." She pointed to her left. Then handed him the laptop.

Luke smiled and nodded at her, "Are we getting together with your brother and Jade tonight?"

Ben smiled, "Thank you." He muttered. As soon as the computer booted and connected to the internet, he got onto his email. One message in particular jumped out at him.

Benny,
I just wanted to let you know that I lied to you. I never got an abortion. I still love you very much.

"I think so."

"I need to call my sister." Ben said quickly and left the room.

She glanced at her phone and smiled, "Speaking of...there's Ben."

"What's up, brah?" She asked as she answered.

"Oh my god! She emailed me. She is still pregnant!" Ben almost shouted.

"Calm down." Chris breathed. "Do you want to go back to New York?"

"I don't love Susan. But I want my child." Ben replied calmly, "She's due any day now. Because this all happened months ago."

Chris sighed, "Well...do you love Jade?"

"Yes." Ben said simply.

"We'll leave in a few weeks. Make it last with her." Chris frowned.

"Chris, I have a few days not a few weeks." Ben said.

She looked into the room where Luke was watching the news, "Okay Ben. I'll be back to the house soon. Don't worry, I'll come with you."

Ben glanced towards Jade's bedroom and sighed, "Okay. I'll start packing."

"Luke...we need to talk." She said as soon as she hung up.

Then she thought for a moment. She couldn't tell him. Not aloud, she'd leave him a note.

"What?" he asked.

"I know you took off but I've got to run back to the house for a little. Ben needs me. I'll be back in a bit, okay?" Chris lied.

Jade was in her bed, eating, and surfing the web, when Ben entered.

"I'm going back." He told her simply. He refused to tell her the reason. Even though she cried, he wouldn't. He simply packed an waiting on his sister.

Luke smiled at her, "Okay."

Chris walked straight to her room and threw all her stuff in bags. She said goodbye to Jade briefly with a hug and a muttered, "I'm so sorry." Ben had them stop at Luke's house where she left him a note in the mailbox. All it said was, I had to go. I'm so sorry. One day you'll understand. I don't belong here. He opened the letter and cried, for the first time since his mother had died.

Chad walked into the house, planning to get something to drink, and saw Jade crying.

"What's wrong?" He sighed.

"Ben and Chris....they just left!" She sobbed.

Two days later.....

Chris, I'm preg. DO NOT TELL BEN! Jade sent the text to Chris.

Ben heard his sister's phone go off. She was in the shower. He wouldn't have looked at it but he saw the text was from Jade. Ben opened the phone and read the message.

He glanced toward the bathroom and sighed. Susan had agreed to just give him all rights to their baby. She was to be induced the following Monday and he got to take the baby boy home with him. Ben deleted the message and put the phone back.
