You Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone

Colin stood in the bathroom, getting ready. he stared into the mirror for a few minutes.

the two of them cuddled for a bit longer before they finally dragged themselves out of the bed.

He splashed some water on his face and sighed.

Jake kissed her happily, they were half ready. She smiled and laughed, "I need to find something to wear!"

His first tour had gone smoothly. This one, not so much. He'd been on a mission where EVERYTHING had gone wrong. He'd had to kill too many people and it was killing him on the inside.

Jake smirked, "I don't care if you wear anything." He laughed.

"You okay?" Avril asked as she peered into the bathroom.

"Daddy might!" Madison laughed.

"Good point!" Jake pulled on a shirt.

Colin looked at her and smiled, "Yeah baby." Avril came over to him and wrapped her arms around him.

"You can tell me anything, love."

She was so happy that Jake was back.

"I know." He kissed her forehead.

"This okay?" Madison asked she slipped on a dress.

She smiled and pulled her hair up into a cute up-do, "If you're ready, let's go. I'll go downstairs and wait."

Colin smiled and nodded as she left. Then he pulled on his clothes."

Jake grinned, "It is more than okay."

They all gathered downstairs for a moment then their father arrived.

He arrived promptly, as usual, and they were off quickly.

"So Jake, you will be home for a while?" Her father asked.

Jake nodded, "Yes sir. With Obama pulling troops out they doubt I'll be needed for a third tour."

Her father nodded happily. The whole table just talked comfortably for a while.

Jake put his hand on Madison's knee and smiled.

The girls father smiled at Colin, "Congratulations on the promotion."

Colin nodded, "Thank you sir. I'm thinking of not taking it..."

Avril looked shocked, "What?" Colin sighed.

"Av, I...we'll talk about it later." He muttered.

Avril simply sighed because she didn't want to cause a scene at dinner.

"We're just happy you boys are home." Her father smiled.

the dinner passed slowly after that announcemnt.

Jake was taking off his clothes getting ready for bed, he glanced at Madison on the bed. They had been dating two years, she was coming up on her 24th birthday, he on his 28th. He thought to himself that it was time to start ring shopping.

He smiled at her, "You know, you're seriously what got me through every night and day"

Colin laid down by Avril and sighed. He was happy to lay in a comfortable bed with clean sheets. And to have the woman of his dreams beside him.

Madison smiled and he sat down beside her. "I feel so empty without you." She said as she nuzzled into him.

Avril cuddled up next to him.

"Well, I'm back. For good." He smiled at her.

"I have to work in the morning." She told him softly. She was a police officer on the Airforce base. She'd only done four years in the AF before she had gone to school.

"You could get deployed again." She hugged him tighter.

He kissed her forehead, "Baby that's not something to worry about right now."

"Call in sick..." He smiled slightly.

She sighed and nodded.

Avril rolled her eyes, "No."

"Will you be pissed forever?"

"No." She replied.

He held her face in his hands, "I love you SO much."

Colin kissed her softly.

She grinned and then sighed, "I wish that their was world peace." She then giggled.

Jake tickled her and pulled her close.
