Safety Isn't Always In Numbers Empty Safety Isn't Always In Numbers

Taylor Kitsch walked the fairgrounds calmly and sighed. He was in Waxahacie, Texas at the grounds of the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. He was a "world traveler" but he finally felt like he had found a somewhat permanent home. His last home had been New Orleans, as it was home to most of the world's vampires.

It was eight o'clock at night and the fair had just ended for the day of April 17th. Taylor tilted his head when he heard a scream coming from the sleeping area of the performers.

*-*

Jessie's scream was cut off as the male shoved her against the wall. He held her by her throat and she could peel the power of his hand. He could easily crush her windpipe. Suddenly, the door banged open, distracting the vampire holding her. She dropped to the ground and passed out for only a moment. When she came to, the vampire who'd attacked her was laying very still on her bed. The other man was holding her hand. She shrieked and he covered her mouth.

"I am a friend. You're safe now. We've got to leave this trailer before he wakes though."

"You didn't kill him?" She whispered.

"No...that's a sin among us. Let's go."

Jessie nodded, still slighlty stunned she let him led her out of the trailer.

*&*

Giselle sighed as she sat against the trailer. Her best friend, Jessie was off doing a few things and Giselle was exhausted. Paul Wesley (from Vampire Diaries hehe) watched her from the distant woods. The pair had been hooking up for a while but lately Giselle had been ignoring his calls, Pauls assumed it was because he had a reputation for being a bad ass and bad news.

"Hello..." He sighed as he sat down next to her.

"What are you doing here?" Giselle stared at him.

"You're not answering my calls." Paul shrugged.

"So you just show up?" She muttered.

"Apparently." He said with a smile.

*-*

Jessie clutched onto Taylor's arms, "Slow down, please."

He shook his head and picked her up. Now he was cradling her in his arms, "We must get to safety first."

"People just don't do that." She snapped.

"Good thing I'm not a person." Paul smirked.

"Oh right." Giselle had known he was a vampire for sometime, it didn't frighten her. "Well, leave." She knew was becoming attached to Paul, she also knew that would only lead to heartbreak.

*&*

"Is it going to come after me again?" She asked.

"Yes. He's a vampire. That's why we are running off for a little while."

"Paul, do you know what everyones saying about you?" Giselle asked as he sat down next to her.

"Yes and you shouldn't care."

"I'm sick of being hurt, Paul..physically and emotionally." She said simply, refering to her past relationships.

*&*

Her shock was starting to go away, "Thank you."

Giselle sighed and kissed him, he seemed a little resistant though like this wasn't one of their usual booty calls on one another. She kissed him again and pulled him instead gently.

*&*

"Yes, very." Jessie smiled slightly

"Elle I wanted to talk.." He said as she started taking of his shirt.

Giselle shook her head and pulled him towards the bed while muttered, "Mm not now. I want you.." She didn't want anything between her and Paul to become more than physical.

*&*

"Sounds great." She smiled.

"No. I'm capable of mating for life." Paul sighed, "You aren't capable of feeling anything."

"Yes, I am." Giselle said defensively.

*&*

"So what now?" She smiled when they paid the bill.
