A Night To Forget

Sara J. Jackson sighed as she read over her script. She had been doing this for three years now and had quickly risen up Hollywoods top ten list of screenwriters. She exited out of the script and went online. Her roommate, Jadyn, walked in just as her cell phone went off. Sara glanced at the phone and shut it off.

"Colin again?" Jadyn asked gently. Sara nodded. The reason Sara and Jadyn had found the amazing place together was because of Sara breaking up with Colin Farrell.

"He has called 5 times already. I text him and told him i will meet him later. He's going to have his best friend, Tom, and their kids. So do you want to go with? Please,"

"Of course I will." Jadyn smiled, "That's what best friends are for."

"Thank you." Sara smiled, "You're the best."

"I know I know." She laughed and sat next to her.

"Is Tom hot?" Jadyn joked.

"It's the actor, love. Tom Hardy" Sara smiled.

"Hey! I've been covering natural disasters all year." Jadyn said, "Google image him for me."

Sara giggled, "he is smoking hot!!" She said as she pulled up thd picture.

"Damnn!" Jadyn laughed, "but he has a kid? Is he single? Wait do you mind me creeping on him?" She laughed.

Sara handed over the computer, "colin is wearing on me. I dont know what to do."

Jadyn sighed, "Maybe he changed. Maybe he hasn't. I think meeting him in today will help give you a better idea. I'm sorry, I'm no good at this relationship stuff. But I do know when you guys were good you really good, when you were bad you were really bad."

Jadyn and Sara had known each other for years. Jadyn recently had been traveling frequently as a travel journalist, she loved four things, photography, travel, nutrition, and Sara. She didn't have Sara's tender yet tough heart and she often admired Sara for her ability to truly forge connections with other. Jadyn on the other hand, felt Sara was the only person she really connected with. She's often go cover a story or people for work, living in that few country for a few months at a time, then move on, she moved from her short romances just as quickly.

Sara nodded and smiled, "he just wants to party. I was thibking we could grab a bite to eat before we meet them later."

"Yes! I'm starving." Jadyn said, pulling her friend up from the chair. "Let's get ready. Where are we meeting them anyway?"

They began getting ready, "the beach. Where Colin and I had our first date. He is a crafty sexy badger."

"That's just not fair. Neither is bringing his daughter." Jadyn laughed as she changed out of her yoga shirt, "The man is playing dirty pool."

Three hours later the girls had eaten and were driving to the beach. Sara found a spot and parked.

Colin pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek. His two year old daughter, who he was raising alone, ran over to Sara. Ally grinned as Sara picked her up.

Jadyn smiled and greeted Colin, they had met many times.

"Jadyn, this is my good friend Tom and his son Louie." Colin introduced her to the handsome tattooed man that stood next time him, holding the hand of a four year old boy. Sara hadn't answered her question earlier but she noted Tom wore no wedding ring, though having a child did kind of make him not fling material.

"Pleasure to meet you." Tom smiled and shook her hand. Jadyn and Tom looked at each other. "Why don't we take a walk?" Tom suggested, so Colin and Sara could have their space.

Jadyn nodded and they bwgan walking.

"I am glad you came. Im not going to beg you back this time. This is about Allyson. I want to make things where youre legally her mother. Unless you want to leave." The last sentence was mumbled because he got pretty upset at the idea.

"As if i would let you fucking keep her from me." Sara snapped. She noticed a couple of photographers wandering toward them.

"What do you do?" Tom asked, making conversation as he let Louie walk a few feet in front of them.

"I'm a photojournalist." Jadyn said, "Pretty much been traveling non stop the past year so I decided to take a few months off to come home."

"That sounds pretty exciting." Tom smiled kindly, "What types of things do you usually cover?"

"Most recently, the conflict in Syria, the earthquake in Iran, the famine in Eastern Africa." She explained, "I'm pretty lucky. It's an incredible job."

"Sounds like it. Puts mine to shame!" He laughed, "Though I do hope you liked the new Batman movie." Tom joked with a wink.

Jadyn turned bright red, "Actually..I didn't see it..I didn't exactly know who you were until this afternoon to be honest! I hope that's not an insult, I just well haven't really had time for pop culture the last few years." She felt awkward and silly for saying this immediately after.

Colin ushered her back behind a building for some privacy.

"So that's a yes?" He asked.

Tom smiled, "That is beyond refreshing."

"Of course idiot." Sara snapped. She held Allyson closely. Already she knew she was going to take a break from her job for this little girl.

Jadyn smiled and Louie turned around.

"Daddy!" He said loudly.

"Yeah bud?" Tom smiled.

"This lady is VERY pretty. She is like my coloring book!" The child smiled. Jadyn immediately started laughing, she had never heard her tattoos referred to that way and thought it was adorable.

Tom grinned, "you're right, bubba."



Allyson looked at her dad and smiled, "hungry!"

Colin nodded, "i have the paperwork in the car. Would you like to go with us to eat?"

"I already ate. But yes, i will go. We had better let Jadyn and Tom know."

"You're Daddy is like a coloring book too!" Jadyn pointed out, as Tom was also heavily tattooed.

"But yours are prettier, his are stinky black." Louie said.

"They seem to be hitting it off. I will text him."

She smiled, "You are right. Such a sweet boy."



Sara smiled. They were just going to walk to a little cafe on the beach. It was secluded and quiet.

Tom smiled at her then felt his phone buzz, "Sara and Colin left to chat."

"Oh." Jadyn wasn't surprised and was rather happy, "I better let you go then. Don't want to keep you from your wife."

Tom looked puzzled then realized she assumed because of Louie, "Oh. No no. I'm not married. I've been divorced three years."

"Gotcha." She smiled, "Don't let me hold up your evening. I can walk back from here. It's close."

Colin just looked at her, "Thank you."

Tom laughed, "Louie and i will be here for a while. You sre welcome to stay on this public beach with us."

Sars shrugged, "She has veen mine for years."

"Just didn't want to crash family time." She blushed, Tom was a real adult. This was weird. Why is she so awkward?

He sat on the beach while Louie was building a sand castle and ushered her to sit down, "I'd love to take you out to dinner sometime."

Jadyn turned to him, "You're adorable but I don't really 'date'."

Colin smiled nonetheless, "That's true."

"I said dinner. Not a date." He winked.

Sara couldnt help but smile at him.

Jadyn smiled slightly, "I guess I could share a meal with you."

Tom's face light up, "Great. I have to bring Louie to his mom's tomorrow morning. How's dinner tomorrow night?"

Colin sighed, "Maybe we could spend some time as a family this week."

Jadyn nodded.



Sara sighed, "okay. What have you got in mind?"
